HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

Printer failed to initialize itself, with a wheel stick sound and error code 0x61000068, out of no reason one day when I was trying to use it.

Already did my research and reset and restarted around 23 times. Still could fix the problem.  Need help !  Don’t reply if all you can provide is just “restart”. I need something more constructive. Thank you.

Hi @NeedHelP2734,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your frustration with the error code 0x61000048 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 printer. This error often indicates a hardware issue, specifically with the printer's carriage or the mechanism that moves the cartridges.

Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue:

  • Check for Jammed Paper or Obstructions: Open the printer cover and check for any jammed paper or foreign objects obstructing the carriage's movement. Make sure to remove any debris carefully.
  • Inspect Cartridges and Carriage: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated in their respective slots. Also, check the carriage's movement by gently moving it from side to side. It should move freely without any obstruction.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. This process can sometimes reset the printer's internal components and resolve the error.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs and improve the printer's functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
