HP ENVY Inspire 7924e All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

The printer says it's out of paper and yet it isn't! I've -

added sheets, taken some away

switched off and on again

removed printer from list and re-added it

and still no luck!

I use MAC OS 14.6.1

Thanks in advance for any help,

Nick

@Huggy-photo, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Out of Paper error!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the "out of paper" error on your HP ENVY Inspire 7924e printer:

Check the Paper Tray and Alignment:

  • Ensure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray — the stack should be neat and aligned.
  • Make sure the paper width guides are snug but not too tight.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the paper tray and locate the feed rollers (small rubber rollers).
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the rollers.
  • Let them dry completely before turning the printer back on.

Check for Paper Sensor Issues:

  • Open the printer cover and inspect for any small bits of paper or debris stuck in the feed area.
  • A small misalignment or obstruction could trigger a false "out of paper" alert.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from power, and wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Go to Printer Settings → Printer Maintenance → Update the Printer to check for firmware updates.

Test with a Different Paper Type:

  • Try using plain paper if you're using specialty paper like glossy or photo paper.
  • Some printers can be sensitive to paper thickness or texture.

Give these steps a shot — let me know if the problem persists! 😊
