Printer tells me I have a peper jam. When I press copy, the first sheet gets stuck in the printer, and I have to remove the paper tray to pull out the caught paper. I cannot find any other paper jammed in the printer. I tried following the video instructions, but severla things are told to me which I cannot identify on my printer. Any secret compartments ?

Hi @JOSH5343,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Confirm Paper Path and Tray Are Clear:
- Open the Ink Cartridge Access Area: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Open the ink cartridge access door and check inside for any paper fragments or obstruction.
- Remove the Paper Tray: Check the tray to ensure no paper is jammed and also inspect for debris or dust.
Inspect Areas for Hidden Jams:
- Access Back of Printer: Turn the printer around and check the rear for a dual-sided printing accessory or a rear door. Open it and inspect for any jammed paper inside.
- Use the Paper Path Cover: Some models might have access to a paper path cover (sometimes located under the scanning area or requiring you to remove the scanner). Ensure this is clear.
Additional Compartments:
- Check ADF (Automatic Document Feeder): If equipped, open the ADF cover to inspect for paper jams. Remove any remnants that might be blocking the path.
- Inside the Printer: Carefully check around rollers and other internal mechanics for paper scraps that might be tucked away.
Reinstall Paper Tray:
- Make sure the paper tray is securely in place and not causing an obstruction. Reload paper ensuring it is aligned properly with width guides.
Check Printer's Health and Perform Reset:
- If persistent jams continue after checking all compartments, perform a reset: Disconnect power and wait for about 60 seconds, then plug back in and restart.
Consult the User Manual or Support:
- Refer to the HP Support website for specific guidance related to your model, or consult the user manual that came with your printer for visual aid and detailed instructions.
I hope this helps.
