The paper is not being picked up from the tray in my printer. I have followed all the troubleshooting advice:
Unplug - press power button to discharge - leave off for 10 minutes
Plug back in - press power button to reset for 30 sec
Clean all rollers inside printer.
Possibly a hard reset would work, but I can't find any instructions for how to manage it.
This is a deal breaker on the printer, I have had it since 2021, but it has been fairly reliable up until this issue.

Hi @LStarrh,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've already tried the common troubleshooting steps and are considering a hard reset, here's how you can perform a hard reset on your HP ENVY PHOTO 7855.
Hard Reset Procedure:
- Turn on the Printer: If it’s already on, leave it as it is.
- Disconnect Power: While the printer is on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
- Wait: Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect Power: Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
- Turn on the Printer: If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the power button to turn it on.
Additional Steps:
If the hard reset does not resolve the issue, consider the following additional steps.
Check Paper Quality:
- Ensure you are using the correct type and size of paper recommended for your printer.
- Make sure the paper is not curled, wrinkled, or damp.
Load Paper Correctly:
- Fan the stack of paper to ensure the sheets are not stuck together.
- Adjust the paper width guides so they rest gently against the edges of the paper stack.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open all accessible doors and remove any visible debris or paper fragments that may be blocking the paper path.
Clean the Paper Rollers:
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the rollers inside the printer.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP Support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
