I bought a new HP smart tank 670 all in one printer. From day one when I try the auto duplex option the paper is getting jammed. How can I fix it?

Hi @Anup82,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Experiencing paper jams when using the auto duplex option on your new HP Smart Tank 670 All-In-One Printer can be frustrating. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Paper Type and Quality

  • Paper Type: Ensure you are using the correct type of paper. Refer to the printer manual for the recommended paper types and weights.
  • Paper Quality: Use high-quality paper that is not too thin, thick, or textured, as these can cause jams.

Step 2: Verify Paper Loading

  • Load Paper Correctly: Ensure the paper is loaded properly in the paper tray. Adjust the paper guides to fit the paper snugly without bending or wrinkling.
  • Paper Capacity: Do not overload the paper tray. Ensure it is within the specified capacity.

Step 3: Check for Obstructions

  • Clear Jams: Open all accessible areas of the printer to check for any paper scraps or obstructions. Remove any pieces of paper carefully.
  • Clean Rollers: Check and clean the rollers inside the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean any debris.

Step 4: Update Firmware and Drivers

Firmware: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Go to the HP Support website and check for any firmware updates for your printer model.

  • Drivers: Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Step 5: Reset Printer Settings

  • Factory Reset: Resetting the printer to its factory settings can sometimes resolve issues.
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
    • Navigate to the printer settings menu and select the option to restore factory settings.

Step 6: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Diagnostic Tool: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP Support website. This tool can diagnose and resolve various printing and scanning issues, including paper jams.

If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it might be a hardware issue with the duplexer mechanism. You may have to contact phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
