HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer - H711n

My HP OfficeJet 6700 All-in-One Printer shows a Paper Jam message but there is no actual paper jam. I removed the back feeder and re-inserted it several times and checked for any loose items but can't seem to find any debris. What are my options?

Hi @DParedes33

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 6700 is displaying a paper jam message despite there being no visible paper jam, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the back, and wait for a few minutes. Then reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. This can sometimes reset the printer and clear error messages.
  • Check for Obstructions: Even if you can't see any paper jam, there might be tiny shreds of paper or other debris stuck inside the printer. Use a flashlight to carefully inspect the paper path, including the input and output trays, as well as the rollers and other areas where paper travels. Use compressed air or a soft brush to remove any debris you find.
  • Check Paper Tray Alignment: Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the paper tray and that the guides are properly adjusted to the size of the paper being used.
  • Clean the Rollers: Dirty or worn-out rollers can cause paper jam errors. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Rollers can also be cleaned with distilled water on a lint-free cloth. Be sure to dry them thoroughly before reinstalling them.
  • Inspect Sensors: Paper jam errors can sometimes be triggered by faulty sensors. Carefully inspect the sensors along the paper path to ensure they are not obstructed or damaged.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve various issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the paper jam error on your HP OfficeJet 6700 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
