HP 8600 911g
I am getting a paper Jam error. I have checked all openings even connectors to no avail. I love this printer it has been so reliable until now, I hate to part with it. I have reset (to the best of my ability) My ink levels for color are out. I still have black but didn't want to invest in more inks if my printer is a total loss. Is there a fix for this issue or do I say goodbye?
PS I realize there are no longer updates for this printer....

@lauriebeeze, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Try this:
Unplug the printer
Open the rear access door, and check for tiny bits of paper, sticky residue, or dust on the rollers
Move the print carriage left/right gently—if it doesn’t move, it may be jammed
Look for a clear plastic strip running behind the printhead. This is the encoder strip—wipe gently with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol
Hidden Jam in Duplexer or ADF
Even if you checked, try this again carefully:
Remove the duplexer (rear paper path unit)
Inspect gears and rollers inside
If you have an ADF (document feeder), lift the cover and check for stuck paper or debris (even tiny torn bits can cause errors)
Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Wait for 60 seconds and connect the power cord back in.
- Turn on the printer.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
Also, refer to this guide: HP OfficeJet 86xx Printers - Paper Jam Error | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
