The drawers have been removed - the cartridges have been removed - the back has been checked, and there are no jams. unplugged printer for 10 minutes. The sensor must have failed.

@Awesome555, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Paper Jam Issues in HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Paper jams can sometimes be tricky to resolve, especially if all obvious areas have already been checked. Here are additional steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

Check All Jam Locations

  1. Check the Output Bin: Ensure there isn't any paper stuck in the output bin area.
  2. Examine All Doors and Trays: Verify that all door areas (including left and right doors) have been thoroughly checked for any paper remnants.
  3. Check the Duplexer: If your printer has a duplexer for double-sided printing, check this area for any jammed paper.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Sensor Cleaning: Paper jam sensors might accumulate dust or be obstructed. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the sensors.
  2. Reboot Printer: Sometimes, disconnecting the printer for an extended period (~10 minutes) and reconnecting it helps reset the sensors.

Steps to Clear Jams Behind Covers

  1. Open the Covers: Using the handles, open all designated covers on the printer.
  2. Inspect for Obstructions: Carefully inspect each part of the printer's internal components where paper might be stuck or sensors might be obstructed.
  3. Check the Fuser Unit: Lift the fuser cover and inspect for jams or obstructions. If there are pieces of paper or remnants stuck, carefully remove them. Re-seat the fuser unit correctly.
  4. Inspect Tray Guides: Ensure all paper alignment guides are correctly adjusted and aligned in their respective trays.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the Printer: Power off your printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  2. Wait for a Few Minutes: Allow the printer to sit unplugged for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Replug and Power On: Turn on the printer and see if the issue persists.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
