Try these steps:
Power Cycle the Printer
Sometimes a simple restart can reset any misalignment or mechanical issues:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Access and Remove Obstructions
Ensure there are no obstructions that might be preventing the drawer from opening fully:
- Open the front cover of the printer.
- Carefully pull out the paper tray.
- Inspect the interior for any foreign objects or debris.
- Remove any obstructions carefully.
Adjust the Paper Width Guides
If the width guides are stuck or misaligned, try adjusting them manually:
- Pull out the paper tray as far as it will go.
- Gently move the width guides back and forth to ensure they are not jammed.
- Adjust them to the desired width.
Check the Paper Tray Alignment
Make sure the paper tray is correctly aligned and seated in the printer:
- Remove the paper tray entirely from the printer.
- Reinsert the tray carefully, ensuring it slides in smoothly.
- Try opening the tray again.
