Everytime I go to print, the paper starts going into the printer, stops, makes a jam sound and when I look inside, the paper is always folded over and I have to remove it.

Hi @Campinggirl1958,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there could be a few potential issues causing this problem with your printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check Paper Quality: Ensure you are using the correct type and size of paper recommended for your printer. Low-quality or incompatible paper can cause jams.
  • Inspect Paper Path: Open the printer and carefully inspect the paper path for any obstructions such as bits of paper, debris, or foreign objects. Use compressed air to blow out any dust or debris that may be blocking the paper path.
  • Adjust Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides in the paper tray are properly adjusted to fit the paper size you are using. If they are too tight or too loose, it can cause paper to misfeed or fold.
  • Clean Rollers: Printer rollers can accumulate dust and debris over time, causing them to lose traction and resulting in paper jams. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water or rubbing alcohol.
  • Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the paper settings in your printer driver or control panel match the paper size and type you are using. Mismatched settings can lead to paper jams.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause printing issues that are resolved with updates.
  • Replace Printer Parts: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, there may be a mechanical problem with your printer such as a worn-out roller or a faulty sensor.

By going through these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with paper jams in your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
