Hi @SonF,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord: Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  3. Wait 60 seconds: Wait for 60 seconds. This allows the printer to reset.
  4. Reconnect power cord: Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  5. Turn on the printer: Press the power button to turn on the printer.

Check for Remaining Debris

  1. Open the cartridge access door: The carriage might move to the center. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you proceed.
  2. Disconnect the power cord: For safety, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Check paper path cover: Locate the paper path cover, grasp the handle, and lift up to remove it.
  4. Remove jammed paper: Use both hands to gently pull out any jammed paper without tearing it.
  5. Check rollers: Ensure there are no bits of torn paper, debris, or obstructions in the rollers.
  6. Move the carriage: Manually move the carriage to check for obstructions on both sides.
  7. Reconnect power cord: Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer and turn it on.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Gather materials:

  • Long, lint-free cotton swab
  • Clean, lint-free cloth
  • Distilled, filtered, or bottled water
  1. Disconnect power cord: Ensure the printer is powered off and disconnected from the power source.
  2. Remove paper path cover: Locate and remove the paper path cover.
  3. Clean rollers: Lightly dampen the swab with water. Clean the rollers and remove any dust or debris buildups. Rotate the rollers upwards while cleaning them.
  4. Dry rollers: Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).
  5. Close cartridge access door: Replace the paper path cover and close the cartridge access door.
  6. Reconnect power cord: Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Reset the Printer

  1. Disconnect power cord: With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the power source: Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect power cord: Reconnect it to a wall outlet and to the printer.
  4. Turn on printer: Press the power button to turn on the printer.

I hope this helps.
