HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer

I am having trouble with printing. My printer keeps having paper jams and I have tried everything I know to try. I have attempted to use the compressed air, cleaning it with a damp cloth, and nothing has worked. I need help figuring this out.

Hi @MollyT3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with persistent paper jams in your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-In-One Printer can be frustrating. Here are a few steps you might consider if you haven't tried them yet:

Check the Paper Tray and Feed Rollers:

  • Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly in the tray and isn't overfilled. Verify that the paper size and type settings on the printer match the paper you are using.
  • Inspect the feed rollers for dust or worn-out surfaces. If you've already cleaned them, make sure they're not slippery or overly smooth, as this can affect their ability to pick up paper properly.

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Open the printer's access doors and inspect the entire paper path for any torn pieces of paper or debris that might be causing the jams. Even small pieces of paper stuck in the rollers or gears can cause issues.
  • Check for any loose components along the paper path. Sometimes parts inside the printer may become dislodged and interfere with paper feeding.

Adjust the Printer Settings:

  • If you're printing on heavier or specialty paper (like photo paper or labels), adjust the printer settings through the printer menu or your computer to match the type of paper you're using. This can help prevent jams related to paper thickness.

Firmware and Software Updates:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. HP often release updates to fix known issues, including paper feed problems.
  • Similarly, check that you are using the latest printer driver on your computer. Outdated drivers can lead to various operational issues. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
