I installed a new HP Envy Inspire 7224e printer successfully. I printed 2 pages from the printer. No problem. 2 hours I added paper and got the photo tray blocked error. I tried adjusting the photo tray. Turned on and off the printer. The error recurs and I cannot print nor copy. Please advise.

Hi @JackTarn
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy Inspire 7224e is showing a "photo tray blocked" error, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check Photo Tray for Obstructions
- Remove and Inspect: Open the photo tray and remove any paper. Look for any obstructions or debris that might be blocking the tray.
- Reinsert the Tray: Ensure the tray is inserted correctly. Make sure it clicks into place.
2. Check Paper Type
- Make sure you're using the correct paper type for the photo tray. Sometimes, using the wrong size or type can cause errors.
3. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
4. Update Firmware
- Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. Visit the HP Support website to download any updates.
5. Clear Printer Queue
- If there are any stuck print jobs in the queue, they may cause issues. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and clear the print queue.
6. Check Settings in HP Smart App
- If you’re using the HP Smart app, ensure that the settings for the photo tray are correctly configured. Sometimes, resetting the configuration can help.
7. Consult the Manual
- Refer to the printer's manual for specific error codes and troubleshooting steps related to the photo tray.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
