Hi @JAR10446,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy Inspire 7220e printer is showing an “Out of Paper” error on your new MacBook Air, even though paper is loaded, here are a few steps to resolve it:

1. Check Paper Tray and Paper Type

  • Ensure paper is loaded correctly in the input tray.
  • Use plain white paper, not glossy or speciality paper.
  • Fan the stack to prevent sheets from sticking together.
  • Make sure the paper guides are snug but not tight.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

3. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  • Open the rear access door or input tray (depending on model).
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Gently clean the rollers.
  • Let them dry for 10 minutes before closing the tray.

4. Update Printer Firmware

5. Reset the Printing System on macOS

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list.
  • Choose “Reset printing system…”.
  • Re-add the printer using HP Smart or AirPrint.

6. Use HP Smart App

  • Download from Mac App Store – HP on the App Store
  • Add your printer and run diagnostics from the app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
