Print head slamming from side to side

Trying to FIX printer due to printhead slamming from side to side.  Have checked methods to remediate but still at a loss.  No one works on printers anymore.  This one is only about 2 years old, so still in great shape.  Can I take it apart?  Any suggestions?

I tried to clean the "clear runner tape band" that the printhead tracks on... (sorry for not knowing exact terminology)   Plugged and unplugged according to suggestions and manual.  Now just frustrated and disappointed...

If the printhead slams side to side, it's an indication that the printer does not know the exact position of the printhead.
