The printer makes an awful scrapping sound when it prints. Suggestions as to what I should do to get that sound to stop?

Does it make the noise only while printing or during powerup as well or when you open and close the cartridge door? If it makes it after a door close, do this: Remove all cartridges and then turn the printer on and off. Listen for the noise during startup. If you do not hear the noise, install 1 cartridge and close the door. Repeat, installing cartridges one at a time and waiting for the printer to prompt for the next one. If the noise returns after installing a particular cartridge, that cartridge is bad and will need to be replaced. Beyond cartridges, anything else causing the noise typically requires much closer examination or disassembly to see if there is a worn component causing the problem. Look for signs of dust or wear on gears in the works of the printer.
