HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer

I'm getting an error message that I have a Paper Jam.  But the paper has been removed.  I've unplugges the printer for 20 minutes to reset the printer but it did not resolve the issue.

I've also noticed that the printer cartridges appear to be stuck on the far right side of the unit and don't move when opening the lid

Hi @jvhealy2001

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is experiencing a persistent paper jam error and a cartridge movement issue.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot both problems:

Paper Jam Error:

Inspect for Hidden Paper:

  • Open all access doors, including the rear access panel (if applicable), and carefully inspect for any small bits of paper or debris that might be triggering the sensor.
  • Use a flashlight to check deep inside the printer for any obstructions.

Clean the Rollers:

  • Gently clean the paper feed rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Allow them to dry completely before reassembling.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error clears.

Update Firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for firmware updates for your printer. Updating the firmware can resolve software-related issues.

Cartridge Movement Issue:

Check for Obstructions:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer lid and gently check if there are any obstructions preventing the cartridge carriage from moving.

Manually Move the Carriage:

  • With the printer unplugged, gently try to move the cartridge carriage to the center of the printer. Do not force it if it feels stuck.

Inspect the Cartridge Area:

  • Remove the cartridges and inspect the area for any debris or dried ink that might be causing the blockage.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the printer, hold the power button for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn it on and check if the carriage moves during the startup process.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
