Hi @tweety3bee,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Paper Specifications:
- Ensure that the high gloss photo paper you are using is compatible with your printer. The recommended paper specifications can typically be found in your printer's user manual or on the HP Support website.
Correct Paper Loading:
- Load the photo paper into the input tray correctly. Ensure the paper is placed with the printable side facing down.
- Adjust the paper width guides so that they fit snugly against the edges of the paper without bending it.
- Ensure the paper stack is not too thick and does not exceed the maximum paper tray capacity.
Paper Inspection:
- Check that the paper is not curled, creased, or damaged. Warped or curled edges can cause feeding issues.
- Fan the paper stack to ensure that the sheets are not sticking together.
Printer Maintenance:
- Clean the paper rollers inside the printer. Over time, dust and dirt can accumulate on the rollers and cause feeding problems.
- Access the paper rollers through the rear access door or the automatic document feeder (ADF), as per your printer model.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the rear access door and find the paper rollers.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled or bottled water to clean the rollers.
- Allow the rollers to dry completely before reassembling and powering on the printer.
Paper Settings:
- Make sure the printer settings match the type of paper you are using:
- On your computer, go to the print dialog box.
- Select Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Select the appropriate paper type (such as High Gloss Photo Paper) and paper size.
Firmware and Software Update:
- Ensure your printer's firmware and the printer driver on your computer are up to date. Check the HP Support website for the latest updates.
Test with Plain Paper:
- Try feeding plain paper to see if the issue is with the high gloss photo paper specifically. If plain paper feeds without issue, the problem may be isolated to the specific type of photo paper.
I hope this helps.
