Hi @7472,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check for Error Messages

  • Look at the printer control panel for any error messages or icons that indicate problems. Address any issues that are displayed.

Ensure the Printer is Set as Default

  • Go to Control Panel on your Windows 11 computer.
  • Select Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP Smart Tank 589 printer and select Set as default printer.

Clear Print Queue

  • Open Control Panel and select Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP Smart Tank 589 printer and select See what’s printing.
  • Under Printer, select Cancel All Documents.

Check Printer Connection

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or over the network.
  • If using a wireless connection, check that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.

Restart Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer and computer.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then turn them back on.

Update Printer Drivers

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP support website to automatically detect and fix common printing issues.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure your Windows 11 operating system is up-to-date by going to Settings > Windows Update and clicking Check for updates.

I hope this helps.
