Hi @7472,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check for Error Messages
- Look at the printer control panel for any error messages or icons that indicate problems. Address any issues that are displayed.
Ensure the Printer is Set as Default
- Go to Control Panel on your Windows 11 computer.
- Select Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP Smart Tank 589 printer and select Set as default printer.
Clear Print Queue
- Open Control Panel and select Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP Smart Tank 589 printer and select See what’s printing.
- Under Printer, select Cancel All Documents.
Check Printer Connection
- Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or over the network.
- If using a wireless connection, check that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
Restart Printer and Computer
- Turn off the printer and computer.
- Wait for 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
Update Printer Drivers
- Visit the HP Support Website - Software and Drivers to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP support website to automatically detect and fix common printing issues.
Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure your Windows 11 operating system is up-to-date by going to Settings > Windows Update and clicking Check for updates.
I hope this helps.
