HP 4500 envy all-in-one printer. Tried to print on glossy photo paper (glossy side down) for the first time on this printer. Comes up as paper jam and will not take the photo paper. Standard paper works fine. Also trying to connect printer to the internet, to update the drivers, but it comes up “failed to connect”. Printed wireless Network Results, which says “Internet connected”. Using Apple iPad OS 14.7.1

If you have very glossy paper and are loading it face down, it may be slipping on the rollers due to a lack of friction.

All rollers have been cleaned but still have the same problem. The standard printer paper is 0.0045” thick (4.5 thou) whereas the photo paper is 0.0115” thick (11.5 thou). Was the printer designed to take thicker paper? Very frustrating considering I have spent £74 on original ink cartridges, specifically to print out photos and it does not work.

Is this an actual HP photo glossy paper or 3rd party? If you have cleaned the rollers and the printer tries to feed but fails then it seems likely that the surface of the paper is just too slick or possibly your rollers are worn. (do not know your page count). As this printer will feed index cards I do not think that weight of paper alone is causing the problem but could part of the problem.

Photo paper is 3rd party, but good quality. My other printer (Cannon 6150) has no problem with this photo paper. Hooked up to Windows 10 OS. Feel that HP have sold a printer that is unfit for purpose. Also, why will it not connect to the internet when the printed connection report states that it is connected?
