Hi @Gwen5000,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Officejet Pro 6968 is displaying a paper jam message even though there doesn't appear to be any paper jammed, there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Inspect the printer thoroughly: Open all the access doors and trays of the printer and visually inspect for any small pieces of paper or debris that might be causing a sensor to trigger a false paper jam alert. Use a flashlight if necessary to get a clear view inside the printer.
- Check paper path: Make sure there's no obstruction in the paper path. This includes checking the input tray, output tray, and the area where the printhead moves.
- Reset the printer: Sometimes, resetting the printer can resolve false paper jam errors. To do this, turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Update printer firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website. Sometimes, firmware updates include bug fixes that can resolve false paper jam issues.
- Clean the paper feed rollers: Dust and debris on the paper feed rollers can sometimes cause paper jams. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently clean the rollers. Make sure the rollers are dry before using the printer again.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the false paper jam error on your HP Officejet Pro 6968 printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
