HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to print envelopes on the printer, but it keeps telling me I have the wrong size paper loaded.  I set the printer for #10 envelopes, and use MS Word to create the envelope. I tried to set the paper in the computer settings to show the custom size of the envelope, but the printer keeps thinking I need to have 8.5 x 11  paper loaded.  Something I am doing wrong?

Alden4, Thanks for the reply.  I have been able to narrow down the issue.  The envelopes I have been using are a self-seal type which has a glue strip cover that is slippery.  This is allowing the tab of the envelope to try to feed in first, distorting the envelope.  I tested with an envelope that was sealed closed and the original error disappeared.

I am going to get a new box of normal envelopes and continue the testing.  I believe this will correct the issue.  It does baffle me though that the HP 8610 had no issues with the current envelopes.

Thanks for looking in to.

Hi @LennyFo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To print envelopes on your HP 9015e printer, follow these steps:

  • Load the envelopes: Place the envelopes in the input tray of the printer with the flap side facing up and the bottom edge of the envelope towards the printer. Make sure that the stack of envelopes is straight and aligned with the guides in the input tray.
  • Adjust the paper guides: Slide the paper guides towards the envelopes until they touch the edges of the stack.
  • Open the document to be printed: Open the document that you want to print, and click on "Print" in the File menu.
  • Select the printer: Choose the HP 9015e printer from the list of available printers.
  • Choose the envelope size: In the print settings, select the appropriate envelope size from the list of paper sizes. If your envelope size is not listed, select "Custom" and enter the dimensions of your envelope.
  • Choose the orientation: Select the orientation of the envelope as "Portrait" or "Landscape", depending on how you want it to be printed.
  • Adjust the print quality: Select the appropriate print quality from the print settings. For best results, choose the "Best" or "Maximum DPI" option.
  • Print the envelope: Click on "Print" to start printing the envelope. The printer will automatically adjust its settings to print on the envelope.

Note: Make sure that you only load one envelope at a time to avoid paper jams or misfeeds. Also, be sure to test print on a regular sheet of paper before printing on an envelope to ensure the correct alignment and settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Alden4, Thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately, after carefully following your steps, this still does not work.  It does print properly on an 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper in the letter format, but when putting in an envelope, the printer continues to want and 8.5 x 11 size.  This happens even when I change the settings in the printer for the #10 envelope and change the settings in Word for the #10 envelope.  Very frustrating as I have never had these issues with any other printer that I have  had in the past.  Most recently the HP 8610.  Something tells me that a sensor or something in the printer is not accepting the envelope.

I am still having this problem.  I bought a box of regular envelopes, tested it but no luck.  It still continues to give me an error and trying to look for an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.  I have tried everything I can think of by entering the settings on both the printer and the laptop, but it seems there is an issue with the printer correctly grabbing the envelope and feeding it straight.  That seems to be the issue.  How can we fix?
