Printing on bank cheque using HP Smart Tank 720

I recently bought an HP Smart Tank 720. I learned that I can print on a bank cheque using it. However, whenever I try to do so the cheque gets jammed. It is a hit or miss for my printer; sometimes it works properly but most of the time it does not. I have wasted a good nubmer of bank cheques already trying to do it. Is there some sort of a setting or trick to do it?
