Hi @REENAMEC,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 790 All-in-One printer is working slowly, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to improve its performance.
- Check Connectivity: Ensure that your printer is connected to the network properly. Slow printing can sometimes occur due to poor or unstable network connections. If your printer is connected wirelessly, try moving it closer to the router or connecting it via Ethernet cable to see if that improves speed.
- Update Firmware and Drivers: Check if there are any firmware updates or driver updates available for your printer. Outdated firmware or drivers can lead to performance issues. You can usually find these updates on the HP support website.
- Check Print Quality Settings: If you're printing in high-quality or maximum resolution settings, it can slow down the printing process. Consider adjusting the print quality settings to a lower level for faster printing.
- Clear Print Queue: Sometimes a long print queue can slow down the printing process. Clear out any pending print jobs from the queue and try printing again.
- Use Default Print Settings: Using customized print settings might slow down the printing process. Try using the default settings to see if it improves printing speed.
- Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, other software or background processes on your computer can interfere with the printing process. Close unnecessary programs and try printing again.
- Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart of the printer can help resolve performance issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions: Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer that could be causing it to slow down. Check all paper trays, rollers, and the print head path for any debris.
- Perform Maintenance Tasks: Many printers have built-in maintenance tasks such as cleaning the print heads or aligning the cartridges. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform these tasks.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
