Good night, to whoever can help me with this issue:

Recently, I tried printing a document, but the printer (HP LaserJet Pro 3003dw) has been informing me that it needs paper; however, it does not lack paper.  I tried taking off the printer and restarting it, but it keeps telling me it needs paper. Finally, whenever it tried printing a document, I kept hearing clicking sounds from the printer. Could you help me with this issue?

Hi @RanaNich,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how frustrating this must be, your HP LaserJet Pro 3003dw asking for paper when the tray is full, and that clicking sound only adds to the stress. Let’s work through this together and get your printer back to smooth, quiet printing.

Steps to Fix

  1. Power Off and Remove Paper
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    • Remove all paper from the input tray.

  2. Check Paper and Guides
    • Make sure the paper is fresh, flat, and not curled.
    • Adjust the paper guides snugly against the stack; don’t overtighten.

  3. Clean Pickup Rollers
    • Open the tray area and locate the gray rubber rollers.
    • Wipe them with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
    • Let them dry for 10 minutes.

  4. Verify Tray Settings
    • On the printer control panel, confirm the tray size matches the paper (e.g., A4 or Letter).
    • If mismatched, update settings.

  5. Reconnect and Test
    • Plug the printer back in, power it on, and try printing a test page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
