HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8720. We love it and don't want to get rid of it but the only issue we're having is duplex printing. If we print more than 3 pages, it jams really bad. We noticed some white plastic clips are missing of the back that may be to blame. I used to be an HP tech years ago so I'm familiar with PartSurfer and trying to look for these specific pieces (it's not the duplexer unit or motor..I was able to check this part). My issue is I CANNOT find a service manual for the 8720; all the old HP links go to dead pages and search engine checks give me zero results. Does anyone know where I can find one or how to obtain one? Because the product is out of warranty, I don't really get an option to chat with HP.

Thank you, but this is the user guide and setup guides. I am specifically needing the service manual that is for technicians.

@Skeebee,

Unfortunately, HP typically reserves detailed Service Manuals -which include comprehensive information on disassembly, part replacement, diagnostics, and repair procedures -for their Authorized Service Providers (ASPs). These manuals are not publicly available and are accessible only through HP's Partner Portal. As noted by Laser Pros International: ("As an Authorized Partner for HP, Laser Pros International is no longer permited (sic) to supply HP service manuals in part or full. As of 5/13/24, we will no longer be hosting Service manuals. To locate HP Manuals, refer to the steps below" an HP Authorized Partner, they are no longer permitted to distribute these service manuals to the public -that means folks like you and me.

Options for Accessing Service Information:

  1. HP Authorized Service Providers (ASPs): If you're affiliated with an ASP, you can access the necessary service manuals through HP's Partner Portal. If not, you might consider reaching out to an ASP for assistance or to inquire about service options.

  2. HP Support: For specific repair or maintenance issues, contacting HP Support directly can be beneficial. They may provide guidance or direct you to authorized service centers.

  3. Online Communities and Forums: While official service manuals aren't publicly available, some technicians and users share their experiences and solutions on forums like our HP Support Community or other tech forums. These can be valuable resources for troubleshooting and repair tips.

If you have a particular issue or component you're looking to service or replace, please provide more details, and I may be able to assist you further with available resources or guidance.

Kind Regards,

Thanks! Yeah, i used to be an ASP with access to the partners portal years ago with another employer. Just a stay-at-home mom now. 😂 SO, I have the expertise, just not the access but totally understand. So, the issue is that when printing duplex, if you do a couple pages (more than maybe 3 or so) they start to misalign and jam. There are some clear white plastic pieces on the back that appear to align the paper when going through the duplexing unit and some are missing or were cracked. 20250501_111749.jpg
