Hi @Davettgg,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer head is consistently hitting the side of your HP Smart Tank Plus 555, it could be due to a misalignment or calibration issue. Here are some steps you can take to address the problem.
- Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstacles or foreign objects obstructing the movement of the print head. Check the entire path of the print head to ensure it can move freely.
- Calibrate the Printer: Many printers have a calibration or alignment feature. Check your printer's user manual for instructions on how to calibrate or align the print head. This process ensures that the print head knows its position within the printer.
- Reset the Printer: Try turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve minor issues with the printer's internal components.
- Update Firmware and Drivers: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware and drivers installed. Visit the official HP website and download any available updates for your printer model.
- Inspect for Damage: Check the print head and its components for any visible damage. If you notice any physical damage.
- Adjust Print Head Settings: Some printers allow users to adjust the print head settings through the control panel or printer software. Check if there are any settings related to print head position, alignment, or calibration, and make adjustments as needed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
