I bought two HP OfficeJet printers recently. I installed one with no problem, but the other came with a 14 inch paper tray instead of an 11 inch tray so that the paper tray cover did not cover the tray.
When I called to point this out and get the right tray, I was told that since I had bought the printers at Amazon I had to go through Amazon.
This is crazy and terrible customer service. All Amazon did was ship the box that HP sent them. The mistake was HP's and HP should fix it.

The paper tray can be extended to load longer paper sheets.
Check, maybe you have extended the tray while loading the paper without knowing. You have a blue button you need to press to extend the tray and to retract it.

From experience with one of my clients, there are many vendors selling through Amazon who are not authorized resellers, resell return products as new or even used products. If you happened to purchase from one of those vendors then you do not have warranty or support from HP. Does the serial number show as valid when you try to register the product for warranty? If not, then the above scenario is likely what has happened, and in that case, then yes you would need to deal with Amazon or the vendor you purchased from.
