HP Envy All-in-One printer.
When it prints, it either dogears the upper right corner, crumples, but comes out, or jams entirely forcing me to squeeze the mechanisms inside to release the paper jam. No one uses this computer but me and the only thing I print, really, are poems; it hasn't been dropped, etc. Whatever is wrong seems entirely simple to fix but HP doesn't repair its products so much as it replaces them; and I'm out of warranty. (What an economy: button falls off shirt: whole new shirt.

This type of behaviour is consistent with something blocking the printing path. It could be as simple as a piece of paper or label that is stuck in the printing path or there could be a part of the feed path that is out of place. Flossing the paper path is a good way to determine this and is done by getting a piece of stiffer thin cardboard or mylar that is about 1 or 2 inches wide and about the length of a sheet of paper. Pushing it through in the direction of normal paper travel (never backwards), floss the entire width of the paper path, one section at a time. It may take a little effort to push past some of the rollers, that is the reason you need a stiffer piece of paper. This works most of the time but if the label has bonded itself to the paper path it might be difficult to get it out this way and will have to find some way to soften the glue on the label. I often use a cotton swab with WD40 on it to moisten the label and then leave it for an hour as the WD40 will dissolve the adhesive and then you can remove the label.
