@Bradleydale, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw is displaying an error indicating that Tray 2 is overloaded, but you have confirmed that the tray is not overloaded, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
Remove and reload the paper:
- Pull out Tray 2 and remove all paper.
- Check the tray for any debris or obstructions.
- Reload the paper, ensuring it is flat and properly aligned.
- Do not exceed the maximum paper capacity (250 sheets).
Check the paper guides:
- Ensure the paper width and length guides are correctly adjusted to fit the paper size.
- Misaligned guides can sometimes trigger false overload errors.
Check for paper jams:
- Open the printer and inspect all accessible areas for any paper jams or caught pieces of paper.
- Clear any jams detected.
Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error persists.
Firmware Update:
- Verify if there is a firmware update available for your printer model and install it.
- Firmware updates can fix bugs and errors in the printer system.
Reinstall or update printer drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed compatible with Windows 11.
- Visit HP Support to download and install the latest drivers.
