Hi @Artistofinfinit,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It’s incredibly frustrating to encounter a persistent error like this, especially when there’s no visible cause—let’s see if we can address this together.
- Have you tried removing and reinserting the paper tray to ensure it’s seated correctly?
- Does the error occur with specific paper types or sizes, or is it consistent regardless of the settings?
- Have you performed any firmware updates or maintenance tasks on the printer recently?
Check for Obstructions in the Paper Path:
Even if nothing appears blocked, remove the paper tray and inspect the lift mechanism for small debris, paper fragments, or dust that could be interfering.
Adjust the Paper Stack:
Ensure the paper is loaded correctly, with no overfilling or curled sheets. Fan the paper stack to prevent sheets from sticking together.
Restart and Reset the Printer:
Power off the printer, unplug it for a minute, and restart. This can reset the lift mechanism and clear any temporary glitches.
Update Printer Firmware:
Go to the HP support website, download the latest firmware for the MFP 3101sdw, and install it. Firmware updates often address known issues, including lift errors.
Run the Printer Diagnostics Tool:
Use HP Smart or the printer’s built-in diagnostic tools to test the lift mechanism. Follow any prompts or error-specific guidance provided by the tool.
