The print cartridge carriage on my HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 is jammed on the right side and will not budge, electrically or manually.
You suggested using the following URL for assistance:[edit], but this URL is no longer working for whatever reason.
Please assist with my problem urgently as I need to print.

Hi @LLOYDAO,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the print cartridge carriage on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 is jammed and won't move, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Since the URL provided earlier is no longer working, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
Turn Off the Printer:
- Press the power button to turn off the printer. If it doesn’t turn off, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.:
- Leave the printer off for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This may help reset any electronic glitches.
2. Check for Obstructions
- Open the access door to reach the print cartridges.
Inspect for Obstructions:
- Look for any paper, debris, or foreign objects that might be blocking the carriage. Remove any obstructions carefully.
3. Manually Move the Carriage
Turn Off the Printer:
- Power off the printer and unplug it.
Gently Move the Carriage:
- Carefully try to move the print cartridge carriage manually. It should move slightly, but don’t force it. If it’s stuck, try to identify why it might be jammed.
Check for Paper:
- Ensure no pieces of paper are stuck in the printer that might be causing the carriage to jam.
4. Clean the Carriage and Track
Inspect and Clean:
- Look at the carriage and the track it moves along. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the track and any visible parts of the carriage.
Avoid Harsh Cleaning Products:
- Do not use any cleaning products that might damage the printer.
5. Check for Cartridge Issues
Remove and Reinsert Cartridges:
- Remove the print cartridges and check if they are correctly installed. Ensure there’s no tape or protective covers left on them.
Reinsert Cartridges:
- Reinsert the cartridges firmly and ensure they are seated correctly.
6. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Access Printer Diagnostics:
- Many HP printers have built-in diagnostics that can be accessed via the printer’s menu. Check if there are any diagnostic options related to paper jams or carriage issues.
7. Reset the Printer
- Factory Reset (If Applicable):
- If you can access the printer’s menu, try performing a factory reset. This option is usually found under the Settings menu on the printer’s touchscreen.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
