I have an hp 9015. It worked fine until the last firmware update and now it won’t even try to pickup paper.

Hi @rcGUY,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out. If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer stopped picking up paper after a recent firmware update, you're likely experiencing a software or hardware initialization glitch. Here's how to resolve it step-by-step:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn the printer on, if it's not already.
  2. With the printer on, unplug the power cable from the back of the printer and from the wall.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and turn it on.
  5. Wait for the printer to fully initialize.

Step 2: Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

  1. Remove any paper from the input tray.
  2. Open the rear access door (or front if that's where the rollers are accessible).
  3. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  4. Gently wipe the rollers while turning them manually.
  5. Let them dry for 5 minutes, then try printing again.

Step 3: Check for Paper Settings Conflicts

  • On the printer screen or HP Smart app, verify that:
    • The paper size and type match what's loaded.
    • The tray is correctly aligned and seated.
    • No tray is selected that isn’t loaded.

Step 4: Update or Reinstall Firmware (if available)

If the printer’s firmware was recently updated and it caused the issue, try:

  • Checking HP's support site for any newer firmware that might fix the bug.
  • Alternatively, use the HP Smart app or HP Printer Update Utility to reinstall firmware.

Note: HP does not officially support firmware downgrades for most models.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
