@Jovanna1, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6100 is printing with lines (either horizontal or vertical), it typically indicates one of several issues. Here’s a breakdown of common causes and their fixes:

🔍 Common Causes & Fixes:

  1. Low or Empty Ink Cartridges
    • Cause: Insufficient ink can lead to missing lines or faded areas.
    • Fix: Check ink levels using the HP Smart app or the printer display. Replace any low or empty cartridges.
  2. Clogged Printhead Nozzles
    • Cause: Dried ink can clog the nozzles, especially if the printer hasn't been used for a while.
    • Fix:
      • Open the HP Smart app or printer software on your PC.
      • Navigate to Tools > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
      • Run the cleaning cycle (you may need to do this 2–3 times).
  3. Misaligned Printhead
    • Cause: A misaligned printhead can cause lines or blurry text.
    • Fix:
      • Go to Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
      • Follow the steps to print and scan the alignment page.
  4. Wrong Paper Settings
    • Cause: Using the wrong paper type or size can lead to print quality issues.
    • Fix: Ensure the paper type (e.g., plain, photo) matches the settings in the print dialog box.
  5. Driver or Firmware Issues
    • Cause: Outdated software may affect print quality.
    • Fix: Visit HP's Support Page for the ENVY 6100 and:
      • Update drivers.
      • Install any available firmware updates.
  6. Damaged or Refilled Cartridges
    • Cause: Third-party or poorly refilled cartridges may not deliver ink properly.
    • Fix: If you're using non-genuine cartridges, try switching to genuine HP ink cartridges.

🧪 Test It

  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page:
    • Go to Settings > Tools > Print Quality Report.
    • Look for missing lines or colors. This will help you identify which ink or section is causing the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
