HP Officejet Pro 8610. I've taken the printhead out to clean. The printhead carriage is on the right side. How do I get it back to the left side to reinstall the cleaned printhead and cartridges

Hi @jimwnz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To return the printhead carriage to the left side of the HP Officejet Pro 8610 printer, you can follow these steps.

  • Turn on the Printer: If your printer is not already turned on, press the Power button to turn it on.
  • Open the Cartridge Access Door: Lift up the cartridge access door. The carriage should automatically move to the center position for you to access it. If it doesn't move, gently push it to the center.
  • Unplug the Printer (Optional): For added safety, you can unplug the printer from the power source. This will ensure that there's no accidental movement of the carriage while you're working on it.
  • Reinstall the Printhead and Cartridges: After cleaning the printhead, carefully reinstall it and make sure it's securely in place. Then, reinstall the ink cartridges into their respective slots.
  • Close the Cartridge Access Door: Gently close the cartridge access door.
  • Plug in the Printer (if you unplugged it): If you unplugged the printer in step 3, plug it back into the power source.
  • Turn on the Printer (if necessary): If the printer didn't turn on automatically when you plugged it back in, press the Power button to turn it on.

The printhead carriage should now move back to its default position on the left side of the printer. The printer may go through a startup or alignment process, which is normal after reinserting the printhead and cartridges. Once the printer has completed this process, it should be ready for use.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
