Hi @HR2018HG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like something might be caught or misaligned under the glass top of your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015, preventing it from opening properly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to try and resolve the issue:

1. Power Off and Unplug the Printer

  • Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the printer from the power source to avoid any electrical issues while trying to open the top.

2. Gently Inspect the Left Side

  • Check for Obstructions: Shine a flashlight into the gap on the left side where the glass top seems to be stuck. Look for any small pieces of paper, debris, or other objects that might be causing the jam.
  • Tap Gently: Try gently tapping the left side of the printer near where it’s stuck to see if you can dislodge whatever is causing the obstruction.

3. Apply Gentle Pressure

  • Press Down: While gently pulling up on the glass top, apply a small amount of downward pressure on the left side. This might help release the mechanism if something is slightly out of alignment.
  • Even Pressure: Try to lift the glass top evenly, using both hands on either side of the lid, as uneven lifting could exacerbate the jam.

4. Check the Blue Insert

  • Re-check Installation: Ensure the blue insert you replaced is seated correctly. If it’s not properly aligned, it could be causing the lid to be stuck.
  • Remove and Reinsert: If possible, try to remove and reinsert the blue insert by opening the front of the printer (if accessible) and gently pushing it back into place.

5. Try Releasing the Lid

  • Look for a Release Mechanism: Some HP printers have a small release tab or mechanism inside the scanner bed area or around the hinge. Check for any such mechanism and see if it helps release the glass top.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @HR2018HG,

Here are the rest of the steps.

6. Use Caution with Force

  • Avoid Excessive Force: If the lid is still stuck after trying the above steps, avoid using too much force, as this could damage the printer.
  • Gently Wiggle: Try gently wiggling the lid back and forth to see if it can be gradually loosened.

It’s important to handle the printer carefully to avoid causing any further damage. If the lid seems tightly stuck, this could be a hardware issue.

In this case, I recommend you contact phone support for service options.

Resolved the problem:  Opened both small rectangular tabs on the backside of the printer. Saw that something visible on the left side was at a tilt. Used a flathead screwdriver and moved it downward which released the top. With the top now open, could see that the removable blue piece used to clear a paper jam had itself became jammed (probably because I did not replace it properly when I previously cleared a paper jam.) Did some more pressing and pushing with the screwdriver on and around the blue piece until it finally popped out. Replaced it to the proper location and the printer resumed operation with no further problems.
