I have tried resetting all ways. I keep getting the code. No paper jams or obvious problems, The ink carrier moves but does not stay out where I can access cartridges.

Hi @LarryC10,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0x61011bed on your HP Officejet 6500A Plus (E710n) typically indicates a carriage jam or an internal mechanical issue, even if no paper jam is visible. This can be caused by obstructions, dried ink, or a failing carriage mechanism.
Here are the most effective troubleshooting steps:
1. Hard Reset the Printer
This clears memory and can sometimes resolve internal errors:
- Turn the printer on.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall and the back of the printer.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a power strip).
- Turn the printer back on.
2. Check for Carriage Obstructions
- Open the printer lid.
- Gently move the ink carriage left and right — if it resists, do not force it.
- Check for paper scraps, ink build-up, or any foreign object.
- Clean the carriage rail with a lint-free cloth and a little isopropyl alcohol.
3. Clean the Cartridges and Contacts
- Remove the cartridges only if the carriage is accessible.
- Clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the carriage.
- Reinstall firmly.
4. Update or Reinstall Printer Firmware
- Visit HP’s support page for your model:
HP Officejet 6500A Plus (E710n) Drivers & Firmware - Download and install the latest firmware update.
- This may resolve embedded software issues causing the error.
5. Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)
- Download: HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Connect your printer via USB.
- Run the tool to detect hardware problems or corrupt drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
