Hi @robbo72,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For your HP Envy 5544 printer displaying a paper blockage error when no paper is jammed, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds and plug it back in.
- Turn the printer back on and try printing again.
Check for Obstructions:
Even if the error appears and there's no visible jam, check:
- Input and output trays for small pieces of paper or debris.
- Open the printer and inspect the paper path, including the rollers, for anything stuck.
- Ensure the paper sensor is clean and functioning (it may falsely detect a jam if it's dirty or malfunctioning).
Update or Reinstall Drivers:
- Go to HP's website and download the latest drivers for your Envy 5544 printer.
- Uninstall the current drivers on your laptop and reinstall the updated ones.
- Make sure your laptop and printer are connected properly (either via Wi-Fi or USB).
Clear Print Queue:
- Open the Print Queue on your laptop.
- Right-click on your HP Envy 5544 printer and select "See what's printing."
- If there are stuck print jobs, cancel them all, restart the print spooler, and try printing again.
Perform a Printer Hard Reset:
If the issue persists:
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord.
- Disconnect any USB cables or Wi-Fi connections.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Reconnect everything and try again.
Update Printer Firmware:
Check HP's website to see if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Updating the firmware might resolve any glitches.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
