Hi @not-happy2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with a persistent paper jam error can indeed be frustrating, especially with a new printer. Here are some additional steps you can try to clear the false paper jam on your HP Smart Tank 6001.
- Inspect for Jammed Paper: Turn off the printer and visually inspect the paper path, input, and output trays for any jammed paper shreds or foreign objects. Remove any obstructions carefully.
- Reset the Printer: Sometimes, resetting the printer can resolve false error messages. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 1-2 minutes. Then, plug it back in and power it on.
- Update Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates include bug fixes for such issues. You can check for firmware updates through the printer's control panel or HP's official website.
- Paper Sensor Inspection: There might be a malfunction with the paper sensor. Gently clean the paper feed rollers and sensors using a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with water. Make sure there is no debris blocking the sensors.
- Check Paper Type and Condition: Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper recommended for your printer. Also, check if the paper is not wrinkled, curled, or damaged, as this could trigger false paper jam errors.
- Manually Move Printer Carriage: Turn off the printer and manually move the printer carriage (the part that holds the ink cartridges) from one side to the other. Check for any obstructions or foreign objects along the printer's carriage path.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
