HP Recommended

I am having constant paper jams on hp 6000 printer. I think I have loosened the flip gate. The  problem is worse and the paper scrunches up on that right side even more. How do I make sure the flip gate is secure?  Also I am using a Target brand paper. Does paper matter for jams?  This is only for at home printing. Thank you so much!
