Hi @Bigfrog,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to reinstall the printing tray on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer, follow these steps:
Steps to Install the Printing Tray:
Power Off the Printer:
- First, ensure that your printer is powered off. Unplug it from the power source for safety before attempting to handle any parts.
Align the Tray:
- Check that the output tray is positioned correctly. Ensure the tray is facing the right direction and isn't obstructed.
- The output tray is the smaller tray at the front, and the input tray is the larger one where you load the paper.
Insert the Input Tray:
- Slide the input tray back into the slot at the bottom of the printer. Make sure the tray is fully extended before inserting.
- Guide the tray gently into the slot until it clicks into place.
Load Paper into the Tray:
- Adjust the paper width guides on the tray to fit the size of your paper.
- Load the paper stack (print side down) into the input tray, ensuring it’s aligned with the guides.
Push the Tray Completely In:
- Push the tray into the printer until it locks into place. You should not feel resistance as you slide the tray in.
Power On the Printer:
- Once the tray is properly installed, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Test Printing:
- Try printing a test page to ensure the printer recognizes the tray and the paper is properly loaded.

I hope this helps.
