@ynstock, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To load 4x6 photo paper into the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw, follow these steps:

Remove any plain paper:

  • Ensure the paper tray is empty by removing any plain paper from the main paper tray.

Load the short edge of the photo paper:

  • If your photo paper has a perforated tab, place the photo paper in the tray with the tab facing up or towards you to prevent printing on it.

Determine the paper orientation based on tray type:

  • Rear load tray (if available): Load inkjet photo paper glossy or print side facing up.
  • Front load tray: Load inkjet photo paper glossy or print side facing down.
  • LaserJet front load tray: Load laser photo paper glossy or print side facing up.

Following these guidelines ensures proper loading of the photo paper into your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw for optimal printing.
