Hi @trec2

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s frustrating, Vinod—especially when the tray is clearly loaded! This issue seems to be a common false "out of paper" error on macOS with HP printers. Here are some steps that might help:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Paper Alignment

  • Ensure the paper is flat, not curled, and properly aligned in the tray.
  • Adjust the paper guides so they’re snug but not too tight.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then restart it.
  • This can clear temporary errors.

Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.
  • Click on the link below for instructions on how to update the firmware of your printer.
    https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Reset the Printing System on macOS

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Right-click your printer and select Reset Printing System
  • Re-add the printer afterward.

Try AirPrint Instead of HP Drivers

  • When re-adding the printer, select AirPrint instead of HP’s drivers.
  • Some users found this bypasses compatibility issues.

If the issue persists, it could be a sensor problem inside the printer. Let me know if you need more guidance!
