If it tries to feed paper but just feeds crooked and stops then something is blocking the paper path. I have seen everything from leaves to ball point pens wind up in the feed path. If it sounds like it is trying to feed but the paper does not move then likely the rollers are dirty//worn. Try cleaning them with a damp, lint free cloth.
