HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

No real category for this problem. When I order up a print, the printer gives me more copies than I asked for. Yesterday I asked for 3 copies on a 2 page document. The printer gave me the right amount of copies, but then a few minutes later gave me the same print (6 more pages), then a few minutes later, the same thing. This printer is 1 year old, but just out of warranty. Has not had much use. Next  tome i tried to print something, same thing happened. when I stopped the print, it stayed in the cue. Any suggestions?

Hi @Pauld1945,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with the printer's settings or software causing it to print multiple sets of copies unexpectedly. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Printer Settings: Make sure that the number of copies you're requesting is set correctly in the printer settings on your computer. Sometimes, software settings can override manual selections.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP Smart Tank 7301 printer. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause unexpected behavior.
  • Reset Printer: Try turning off the printer, unplugging it from power for a few minutes, then plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes resolve software glitches.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer and install them if necessary. Firmware updates can address bugs and improve performance.
  • Factory Reset: If the issue persists, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer to restore it to its default settings. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

By going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue with your printer printing multiple sets of copies unexpectedly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
