Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

laserjet model CP1025NW will pull a sheet of paper forward  a few inches then stop.  Sometimes it will print an inch or so which smears.  When the printer does print, it does a beautiful job.

Any suggestions?  Is this a mechanical failure, a cleaning problelm or what?

The problem is progressively more frequent.

If the feed mechanism seems to make multiple rotations when picking paper it may be that the pickup roller in the printer is dirty or worn and needs to be replaced. If the roller appears to be in good shape I would check closely to ensure that nothing is stuck in the paper path that is impeding the movement of paper.

I did a thorough cleaning of the inside of the machine (maybe too thorough).  I cleaned the pickup roller,  the secondary roller through the rear door and the inside of the machine.  When I replaced the yellow cartridge some time ago toner spilled all over the inside of the machine. I replaced that cartridge with a new one.  So I tried to clean up as much as I could get at.  Also I manually rotated the toner belt (the wide belt -width of the machine) I rotated the belt and cleaned off all the black residue.  The belt was in fine shape.  Now the machine will not start.  It cycles through the lights and stops at a blinking triangle.  Every few minutes i hear the machine trying to start - it makes clicking noises.

Any suggestions?
