Hi @ysteb1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e All-in-One Printer is showing a paper jam error, but you can't find any paper jammed inside, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Turn Off and Unplug the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds to allow the printer to reset.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on to see if the error persists.
2. Check All Possible Paper Jam Locations
- Input Tray: Remove the paper stack and inspect the input tray for any stuck paper or small pieces that might be triggering the sensor.
- Output Tray: Check the output area and the tray for any signs of paper that may be stuck or crumpled.
- Inside the Printer:
- Open the printer's front cover and remove the ink cartridges.
- Inspect the area around the carriage path where the cartridges move back and forth.
- Gently move the carriage to the left and right to ensure there’s no obstruction.
- Rear Access Door or Duplexer: If your printer has a rear access door or duplexer, open it and check for any paper jams inside.
3. Clean the Paper Rollers
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the rear access door or duplexer and gently clean the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
- Rotate the rollers manually to clean them thoroughly.
- Allow the rollers to dry completely before closing the door.
4. Perform a Hard Reset
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if the issue is resolved.
5. Update or Reinstall the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or by visiting the HP website.
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
6. Reset the Printer
- Sometimes, performing a factory reset can clear persistent error messages. You can do this from the printer’s control panel, usually under "Settings" > "Printer Maintenance" > "Restore Factory Defaults."
