HP ENVY Photo 6230 All-in-One Printer

when I start a double-sided print, there is a sound of gears squeaking as the paper advances. The printing itself is of good quality, but I fear an imminent breakdown

Hi @touriste44 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Photo 6230 All-In-One Printer is making unusual noises, especially a squeaking sound when printing double-sided, it's essential to address the issue to prevent any potential breakdown. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure that there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper path. Open the printer cover and inspect the entire paper path, including the input and output trays.

Use Correct Paper Type:

  • Make sure you are using the correct type and size of paper as specified in the printer's manual. Using the wrong paper may cause feeding issues and strange noises.

Inspect Rollers:

  • Check the rollers for any debris, paper scraps, or other foreign objects. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water if needed.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Manufacturers often release firmware updates to address performance issues and improve functionality.

Adjust Paper Guides:

  • Ensure that the paper guides in the input tray are set to the correct position for the paper size you are using. Misaligned guides can cause paper feeding issues.

Check for Wear and Tear:

  • Examine the gears and other mechanical parts for signs of wear or damage. If you notice any damaged components.

Reduce Print Speed:

  • In the printer settings on your computer, try reducing the print speed. Sometimes printing at a slower speed can help alleviate noise issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
