@VeelProblemen, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation with your HP Photosmart D5360. Paper jams can occur for various reasons, even if you've already checked and followed the troubleshooting steps. Here's a list of additional steps you can try to solve the issue:
Check for Small Pieces of Paper
Reinspect the Paper Path: Even if you’ve already checked the paper path, sometimes small bits of paper or debris can be stuck in hard-to-see areas. Use a flashlight to look carefully through the paper tray, rollers, and any other accessible areas.
Rollers: Check if the rollers are clean and free from paper dust or any objects that may be blocking the path.
Remove and Reload Paper
Paper Tray: Take all paper out of the paper tray, and check if the stack is aligned correctly and isn’t too thick or bent. Re-load paper properly, making sure it’s not overloaded and is seated in the tray.
Paper Type: Use the right kind of paper for your printer. Thick photo paper or glossy paper can sometimes jam, especially in older printers.
Reset the Printer
Power Off: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 1-2 minutes.
Plug In and Power On: After waiting, plug the printer back in and power it on. This can sometimes reset the internal sensors and clear any erroneous paper jam errors.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response. Have already repeated this procedure four times, have also blown high air pressure through the mechanism. No results at all. 'Paper jam' remains. I suspect the feed mechanism is defective.
Thanks in any case, for 120 euros I will buy a new printer.
