I have read the directions for clearing a paper jam. I can't get to the jam because the "door" that covers the cartridges and mechanisms won't lift. Is there something that releases it?

Hi @Bathsheba2013,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the door covering the cartridges and mechanisms on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e won’t lift, there might be a few reasons and solutions to try:
- Check for Obstructions: Ensure there are no small pieces of paper or other obstructions blocking the door from opening. Gently move any debris that might be in the way.
- Proper Handling: Make sure you are lifting the door correctly. Some models have a specific latch or mechanism that needs to be engaged before the door will open. Refer to the printer’s manual for the exact method of opening the door.
- Reset the Printer: Try resetting the printer by unplugging it from the power source, waiting for about 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in. Sometimes a reset can help with mechanical issues.
- Check for a Release Mechanism: Look for any small buttons or levers near the door that might need to be pressed or lifted to release the door. This is often a hidden latch or catch.
- Consult the Manual: The manual should have a section on clearing paper jams and accessing the cartridges. If you don’t have a physical copy, you can usually find one on HP’s support website by searching for your printer model.
